A Hidden Hotspot
PROHIBITED
8 Westland Ave.
617-267-1200
Shhhhhh—it’s a secret, but Boston’s got a brand-new nightclub
that pretty much redefines “under the radar.” Prohibited, the Hub’s
new speakeasy, is a great place to hang out with friends—if you know where
to find it. Hidden within the basement of new eatery Symphony 8, Prohibited requires
a password for entry (to keep the riffraff out), which can be obtained by a quick
visit to the bar’s Facebook page. Once you’re in, you’ll enjoy
swanky 1920s-themed libations as long as you adhere to the bar’s code of etiquette,
including such rules as “don’t bring anyone that you wouldn’t
take to mom’s house for dinner” and, believe it or not, no talking on
your phone. That’s it, you’ve heard the word—but remember, you
didn’t hear it from us.

’n’ roll dream.

CLUB CAFÉ
209 Columbus Ave.
617-536-0966
For more than a quarter-century,
Club Café in the South End has been one of the city’s most popular nightspots,
drawing a diverse clientele from the famously gay-friendly neighborhood and beyond.
For 2010, the club has unveiled a new look and a revamped social calendar focused
on giving patrons a chance to enjoy their 15 minutes of fame. In addition to its
popular dance club, Club Café has unveiled its new Napoleon Room, devoted to live
entertainment like Open Mic Thursday, Tuesday night piano singalongs and Wednesday
night karaoke. Combine this with live theatrical, comedy and cabaret performances
by professional acts, the red-hot DJs in the club’s video bar and a full restaurant
menu, and Club Café has truly reinvented itself as one-stop shopping for anyone
interested in having a good time.
