Fighting Frost with
Frosting
Winter
Comforts
Sweet •
49 Massachusetts
Ave.
617-247-CAKE
Surviving the harsh
New England winter
merits some sort of
reward. While an
all-expense paid
trip to Hawaii
probably isn’t in
the cards, the
sugary savants over
at Sweet bakery have
crafted something
infinitely more
delicious. From
February 15–March 31,
they’re offering
special winter
flavors designed to
take cupcake
connoisseurs’ minds
off the cold
temperatures. Bite
into a Buttermilk
Pancake cupcake,
topped off with
maple-infused
frosting, or take
refuge in a Buttered
Orange Cider cupcake
with spiced orange
buttercream and
dusted with nutmeg
and cinnamon.
Sweet’s also
boasting
cookie-style
cupcakes like
Snickerdoodle and
Macaroon, as well as
cupcakes that
inspire thoughts of
the tropics, like
Key Lime and Banana
Cream. Whichever
flavor you choose,
it’ll be a delicious
alternative to
grumbling about the
weather.

Old Favorites, New
Digs
Mere
months into 2010,
shake-ups on the
Boston restaurant
scene have resulted
in numerous area
eateries migrating
to new locations.
Here’s a quick
rundown to ensure
fans of these
venerable
restaurants won’t
miss out on finding
their favorite
spots:
- The
Bombay Club
(617-247-2500),
long a Harvard
Square hotspot
for Indian food,
has hopped the
river from
Cambridge to
Boston’s South
End, setting up
new digs at 1415
Washington St.
- Rather than
a move, two
popular eateries
have added new
addresses.
Beloved Back Bay
bar Parish
Café
(617-391-0501)
brings its
killer beer list
and menu of
gourmet
sandwiches (like
The D Bar,
pictured) to a
second location
at 493
Massachusetts
Ave. in the
South End, while
seafood
specialists The
Daily Catch
(617-734-2700)
have added a
third location
at 441 Harvard
St. in
Brookline.
- Finally, a
long-awaited
return: Caffe
Graffiti
(617-367-3016),
which closed its
doors on Hanover
Street in the
North End a few
years back, has
re-opened just
blocks away at
64 Cross St.—a
comeback well
worth lifting a
cannoli in
celebration.

Average Mondays
Poe’s
Kitchen at the
Rattlesnake
384 Boylston St.
617-859-7772
Mondays in February
are always
tough—back to work,
the weekend seems
miles away, and not
even any Monday
Night Football to
look forward to.
However, there’s now
something creative
and delicious to
make Monday less
dreadful—every
Monday beginning
at 5 p.m., Back
Bay eatery Poe’s
Kitchen at the
Rattlesnake hosts
“Nacho Average
Monday.” Chef Brian
Poe utilizes his
culinary expertise
to kick the popular
appetizer up a
notch, offering a
new and inspired
type of nachos every
week. Nothing’s
off-limits here, as
Poe experiments with
everything from wild
boar to foie gras to
lobster (pictured).
For just $14 a
plate, these
one-of-a-kind nachos
are sure to make
Mondays fun days.
